63 Ford Sportsman In Progress

63 Ford Sportsman In Progress

Just another old Ford getting ready for combat :)

Basic chassis. JK D3 bracket.

Out of the paint shop

Like these CG Slotcars wide 5 inserts. Thinned some of the base color for the center.

Image

Standard fare. 9/27 gearing.

Image

Body mounts from old paint stirring sticks.

Testing shows it's not bad. Not a front runner yet...but time to tune :)

To be continued...

I like that guide mount, you seem to be shying away from brass tubing lately, nice simple and functional chassis. The hole build is looking good

Really nice Harry! I had a co-worker some time back (a lady then in her mid sixties) who had one of these with the factory high performance 390 ...every round track driver in the northeast was begging her to sell it to them. A very desirable car for the Sportsman crowd ... (that woman was simply scary behind the wheel). The ‘63 I got from you is coming along!

Thanks guys. Yes, been using the piano wire more lately. Just like to change things up and experiment. It’s half the fun.

Yes sir, those abrasive wheels in the old Dremel sure make it look like I know how to solder doesn’t it Broman? Lol.

Nice car, Harry. I always wanted a convertible '63.

BTW, the wire brush for Dremel works pretty good, too, but it will start flinging tiny wires out if you press too hard.

Thanks Rob.

I have not used the actual wire brush attachment in not sure how long.

These are what I use. They are for the EZ Lock mandrel and come in a set of 2 each.

Between these two, I don't need much else. And since I paint my chassis, these clean and prep the metal perfectly.

In fact...I have a HF brass polisher if anyone wants it.

That's looking sharp Harry. I like your chassis design. Are you going to paint the body blue also? Bob............

Looks like the competition is heating up. Nobody's going to get by that tail hangin' out in the corners. :D
