ATTENTION RACERS

The updated Rules format and a few Rule changes for this proxy series have been added to the top of the first post on page 1 of this thread. Please read them over carefully!

Here's a top-line summary of what's different for those of you who never read the instruction manual but instead go straight to the one-page quick set-up guide:

1. The format used is borrowed from David Reinecke's TranAm Proxy Rules and is, I think, both easy to read and understand.

2. The motor rpm limit has been raised to 23k rpm; manufactures stated. The reason for this increase is that I always meant to include the NSR red can motor. I have always considered it a 22k motor, but as several have pointed out, it's actually a 22.4k motor. So, it's now included, as originally intended. [Aside: I considered a no rpm motor limit for this series, but in the interest of not having the hosts picking platic car bits out of their walls, I left it, essentially, as it had been. Perhaps in the future we'll look at no-limit rpm motors, that was certainly part of the theme of the 1:1 Can-Am series.]

3. The wheel width maximum has been increased to 15x10mm and is in keeping with the spirit of the Can-Am series. [Aside: I also considered an open wheel/tire Rule, but it seemed more appropriate to simply take it up a little in both areas (also see #4. below) and see what the results are. Again, perhaps in the future we can revisit the wheel/tire limits, but for 2018 this is where they'll be.]

4. The wheel width maximum has been increased to 12mm; again in keeping with the spirit of the Can-Am series. The TransAm proxy has the maximum tire width set at 11mm and many of the later Can-Am cars made most of those TransAm'ers look like they were running on O-rings.

And that's essentially it. I'd like to thank all of the entrants and spectators who provided input and I hope that everyone is satisfied with the final outcome of the Rules formatting and the Rule changes for this series.

Hi Allan,

Maybe I'm a bit thick - but doesn't points 3 & 4 above contradict each other? Point 3 says 10mm wide, Point 4 says 12mm wide?

BTW - my entry will remain as #12, but it may not be a 917/10.......
Cheers, Tony.

"4. The wheel width maximum has been increased to 12mm"

I'm certain that you're writing about tire width here. For clarity, does the 12 mm apply to the tire contact patch or to the width of sidewall to sidewall?

Thanks Bob. It's 12mm shoulder-to-shoulder max tire width. It's in the Rules update on the first post of page 1 of this thread I just didn't put it in the quick summary.
