After the rig race concluded, the action moved to the wild and crazy 6-lane oval and WOW! Talk about action!!!!

Image

The first class to race were the T-jet Fairground stockers (t-jet chassis with sedan body and wide rear slip ons allowed)
First onto the track were:
Chris F's Nova in RED
Bob Young's Camaro in WHITE
Stumpy Stone's Stude in BLUE
My GTO in YELLOW
APalmer's Chevelle in ORANGE
Dave Wilson's Fairlane in GOLD

These were followed by:
Gonegonzo's '57 Chevy
Jeff A's Charger
Candis P's Cougar

Each heat was run until the first car clicked off 20 laps on the mechanical counters (the guy watching the counters definitely had to be on the ball!) at which point the field was stopped, the laps tallied on a spreadsheet and the rotation made.
The action was wild and went by WAY too quick! So quick that the "media guy" didn't manage to get any "in race pics" or video!

When the dust settled - it was Stumpy Stone's Stude showing the field the way to the checkered flag! :auto-checkeredflag:
He was followed in succession by:
2) Jeff A's Charger
3) Bob Young's Camaro
4) Dave Wilson's Fairlane
5) Gonegonzo's '57 Chevy
6) My GTO
7) APalmer's Chevelle
8) Chris F's Nova
9) Candis P's Cougar

DEFINITELY some great oval action FUN!

The evening's entertainment concluded with "Outlaw Modifieds" also on the 6-lane oval.
These were run in a crash and burn format - first car to 10 laps stops the field.
If the the Fairground Stockers were wild - these could be considered insane!

Unfortunately, our "media guy" was REALLY slacking on his responsibilities for this class, only managing to capture pictures of the finishing order (sorry guys!)
With the chassis for this class being a JL / AW - these modifieds definitely roared around the track, fighting for position, traction and a clean lane to run in!
We had a number of false starts with drivers letting their throttles write checks their tires couldn't cash (if not all the cars made it through the first lap cleanly, it was a mandatory restart - and yes that inner gold lane can be an evil mistress!)

After all dust and debris settled - the closeness of the racing became apparent with ties for two of the positions that were settled by decision!

The first tie was for FIRST! - with the decision going to APalmer's Vega :auto-checkeredflag:
The balance of the field roared through the flags in the following order:
2) Gonegonzo's Coupe
3) Bob Young's Hot Rod
4) My Camaro
5) Candis P's Willys (tie for 5th - decision going to Candis P)
6) Dave Wilson's Vega (tie for 5th - decision going to Candis P)
7) Chris F's Willys
8) Stumpy Stone's Coupe
9) Jeff A's Camaro

Shot of the field in finishing order with the "tied" positions set forward.
Great way to finish out the evening guys!!!
:text-bravo:

Yes sir. Todd, I'd like to use that Highway Patrol roadblock at the top if that's ok? What a hoot.

Todd... Good coverage! I'll have a Racing Rig ready for next time. I missed out on a lot of fun!

As for the Studebaker winning so strongly, I was as shocked as anyone, but I'll take it! Never did that before (as you can tell by my finishes in the other races!) As an oval racer I should have done better in the Outlaw Modifieds, but I kept spinning out and being caught up in wrecks. "Crash and Burn" is a great equalizer.

Stumpy - the more rigs the merrier! :banana-dance:
And that Stude was a runnin' machine - was great to see it out front! :handgestures-thumbup:

Hi, Just found this thread. Looks like 2 nice tracks and good fun among friends. A couple of questions if I could please. What are the track board dimensions for the Road Course? It looks like 6, 9 and 12 inch curves - Is there a track plan for this track? Thanks for any info you can share. Mike M.

Hi Todd, Very cool. Thanks for the Web Site reference. Now you guys have to get together and race some more and post more excellent race reports. The videos you posted were especially cool. I like the slow motion as it allows you to see the cars handling much better. Thanks again. Mike M.
