Wanted to BUY> Does anyone have a stash of those *slotted Rear wheels, that came on many of the old Aurora XLerators(slotless) Chassis, like seen in the following pic. If the price isn't too steep, and they aren't all chewed up, I'd be interested in purchasing a few :)

Hi Ralph
nice cars up there, the red wrecker or tow truck is a original 1961 international tractor? i saw those in some books, i never thought see one in a picture... it is really nice

Sylvain, yes, the Tow Truck is an original Aurora, Except, the Tow boom is not original, nor are the wheels the correct style for this truck. I do have another Tow Truck in the same color that has all the correct parts. And also have two other Tow Trucks with bodies that came from pull back toys....there should be pix of those in this thread many pages back.
BTW- the whole significance of this little Pig Roast scenario with the Cowboy, has deeper meaning on another slot forum.

It looks too cool for me to split hairs over. The car itself is a great sight :)

4 Gear Chassis

DAVE, fyi- AutoWorld didn't Invent the 4 Gear chassis, but Aurora did back in the early 1970's ! The first Aurora(Specialty) built, weren't even Magnatraction, but had the Blue Drag arms, which is a pretty good arm when teamed up with Strong DASH Magnets, but traction will always be a limiting factor on those early chassis, which didn't have a screw in the back which makes those first chassis prone to cluster gear damage. But Aurora added the screw to the rear shortly afterwards, and the rest of the Aurora Specialty Magnatractions, were very smooth running chassis.
But getting back to AW 4 Gear, they can be tuned to be fast and smooth, and a better Rivet and gears started coming out after the first Legends Funny Cars release.....but before that, the chassis had pretty bad binding issues- but can be corrected and tuned to be smooth. And believe it or not, I have tuned AW 4 Gear chassis to be JUST as fast as an AW XTraction pre (Ultra G)Neo magnet chassis. YMMV of course :D
