Chassis for the Datsun is now finished and assembled

Body is next, needs to be test fitted before paint so any
adjustments can be made. Hopefully none will be needed
and we can continue on.

More later

Something I've been working on. This car was built using one of the many
Shadows that had the drivers swiped out of them for previous builds.
Roof was donated from some car from the junk box, the hood ,bumpers
and other parts are scratch built.

Not an obvious choice to build but just kinda a recycle project if you will

Been working on a couple things. First is a old Falcon body.
Started with a pile of parts
Image
Worked with it some and so far we have this
Image
Also just finished this up. Built from a beat up hot rod body.
Image
Image
Mated it with a broke dune buggy roof and built new roof supports and
wing. Wheels are old Tyco curve hugger with Tyco S large tires
fitted to them. Had to cut the frame because of filling the
sides of the body in and lower the front to use the tires.
Image
Image
Filled the wheel wells in,wing and sides are scratch built as are the
bumpers and cage. Driver is a mix of old and new cobbled together.
Came out pretty well sort of and old super modified look.

All for now

WOW! Those are some awesome looking builds!
:handgestures-thumbup:

Curiosity question... On the front axle on the sprint - are those bronze bushings at the ends of the brass tubing?
If so - can you share where you found them (if you didn't fab them yourself)?

Again - Impressive work and great utilization of "broken" parts to make something really cool!

Todd those are made from 1/8 brass nylon tube inserts.
Image
They were cut down and drilled out to fit the axle. Originally they were made
to work with the front axle holes in the chassis but was to high so
when I added the brass tube to lower it, I made the tube the width of
the chassis and retained the spacers because of the flanged end
and I had already cut them to fit.
They are used front and rear to space the wheels out and were
a pain to drill being thin walled.
I have also used them for axle bushings to use .059 axles in
Aurora chassis.
Image
I got them from the guy who supply's the brass fittings at work but I've
also seen them online. Maybe even at your local plumbing supply

Thanks for looking

Kevin

would have them.

Kevin - thank you for the added info!
I am working at building a brass chassis car for use at the local track (they are kicking off a gravity car class) and was looking for something to use as bushings for the axles - will have to check the local plumbing shop. Thanks for the tip!

BTW - love the pics! :D

Work continues on the Falcon. Cut the rear deck and took about
a 32nd out of it.
Image
Filled all the cuts and the door seams in, sanded everything and put
some primer on.
Image
Image
Removed the bumper section I had put on cause it didn't look right
drilled two holes where the taillights should be and then took a larger
bit and countersunk the holes to look like buckets.
Looks much better than the bumper and makes the body look
shorter.
Image
On to plan b building a hood for it.

More later

This was an experiment of sorts. Car is based off a 63 T-Bird body.
An old Cougar donated it's roof and the rest is built from sheet plastic.
Image
Image
T-Birds body was cut pretty much in half and the rear deck shortened
the taillight panel was reinstalled and filled flush.
The roof then had pieces put on the the rear panels to raise it up
shaped and mated to the body. Roof supports and hood are from
scratch.
Image
Picture of a stock T-Bird,not the one that was used but a reference pic to show
the modifications done to the body. Still much to do
but the basics are done.

All for now
