The T-Bird is set aside for the moment as work continues
on the Falcon. A hood has been built along with a louvered
radiator cover.
Image
Sanded a angle on the hood to give it a bent sheet metal look and
found some injectors for it so we will be building a box around
them. This is the beginning.
Image
Glued all those pieces together into a box shape
Image
After some cutting and sanding we have a fairly square box to work
with.
Image
At this point, mocked everything up on the car to see what it would look
like. Needs some more work as it is a little high but that will be fixed
once mounted to the hood.
Image
Image
Still much work to do but it's coming along and starting to look like something.

The Falcon is a fave of mine and your car looks great. With that armature gear so close to your stacks, it reminded me of the Matchbox "popper" car that had tiny red balls that popped up and down in the motor stacks as the car rolled...thanks for the pictorial and the memories! Ha.

Nice work Kevin, any chance that this Falcon will wear the Gerald Chamberlin # 76 livery ?

Well I've gotten sidetracked again. While looking for some parts
for the Falcon, came across this 37 roadster body also a badly
mangled Willys. Took the top off the Willys and mated it to
the roadster to make a coupe out of it.
Image
Did some more chopping and grinding on it and so far we have this
Image
Body is very tight on the chassis so we made some mounts from an old
gear clamp and epoxied them into the body this will allow
mounting over the existing clamp.
Image
Sits pretty good but a this rate I will never get the other two finished
keep getting sidetracked.

All for now

Work continues on the 37 coupe. We now have a hood
Image
Also built a little piece to simulate a radiator and bent up a bar
with some nylon stocking glued on it to hopefully look like screen
when put in the car.
Image
Image
Neither of which can be installed till after paint.
Also started working on the bumpers.
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Still a long ways to go but coming along. Front bumper needs to
be finished and sanded up then we can start on the rear.

All for now

Front bumper is now complete.
Image
Putting the little piece into the front between the bars
took a little doing but got it in there
Image
Image
So with that in,the front is ready to be cleaned and sanded
up.
The frame work for the rear bumper has been started and
work on the bumper will begin.
Image
Image
Image
Have not come up with a final bumper style yet, but have to clean up
the frame work first as it will be easier to sand up.

The rear bumper is now complete and mounted on it's
frame work.
Image
Image
Reassembled the car temporarily to make sure everything fit.
Image
Image
Image
Fit is good and it's even straight. That completes the chassis
now we can get on to other things.

Started on the cage for the 37. The fit on this body is very tight
so some consessions had to be made. Started by notching the
gear plate and mounting the first u bend in them
Image
Then built a old style x frame into it.
Image
It looks better now after some more filler was added between the x's.
The rest of the cage is kinda old school. Just a front u with two bars
connecting the the front and rear.
Image
Image
Image
Image
Cage is based off a picture I found of just the cage and frame.
Although not as tall as I would have liked, if it was any higher I could not get
the body on. Sanding and clean up of all the joints will follow along with
the driver.

All for now

That is AWESOME!
Are you using polished stainless wire for the cage or ?

FYI- he simply uses Cut-up paperclips Super Glued together, for his Cage and Bar work.
