Sideways Ford GT announced

Just seen Sideways will release their version of this car.



No dates yet but it’s nice to see it arriving.

Seems Hobbiest have to be more and more careful about waiting for Hobbiest
cars and not jumping on the first Toy car that comes out.

I see a division in the USA widening between Toy cars and true Hobbiest cars.
Maybe this is what almost killed slot cars in the USA 40 odd years ago.

This will be a good partner for their Lamborghini Huracan, which is a really nice car.

And I think I saw something about a BMW M6GT3 coming too, once the designer recovers from whatever sickness he has right now.

The club I run with is the same. We started a Carrera GT class. They are pretty evenly matched, so the racing is fun. We ran them several weeks in a row because they are so much fun.

We also have fast classes....we ran "pod rods" the last two weeks and were pushing on the lap record at one point. But we know the fast cars....it's mostly about "put a different car on the track" so we run and enjoy different cars.

Carrera has made some changes which make the cars a good value. It's also clear that slot.it has speed and detail right out of the box for not a ton more money. What a great time to be in the hobby!

Having said that, I will be wanting this release. I like the car, and I like Sideways cars.

It will be interesting to see how much this models weighs once it's released. The weight from this car comes from the number of body details it has for the Carrera car so I wonder if Sideways has managed to get a car that will compete against other hobby/podded cars.

I’m happy to see Sideways bringing this car out, but I, frankly, don’t understand.
Carrera beat everyone to market. Now we have both Scalextric and Sideways bringing the same car to market.
I mentioned economics of scale on the Ti22 thread. With the Ford GT, there is one basic livery with two cars for the US IMSA series and two cars for the FIA series. Also, will the market for a Ford GT become saturated? I’m sure the rabid Ford fans scarfed up the Carrera version since it was first to market. The ones wanting a “more raceable” model will get the Sideways version. Scalextric fans will grab their favorite company’s offering.
If this makes economic sense, then so does a Chaparral 2D.

FWIW I have Carrera’s offering in 1/24 and 1/32.

Because the Carrera car serves a different market than the Sideways car. The numbers of cars they will bring in will be much lower in any case so theirs doesn't have to sell in big numbers i bet to sell well here.

Sideways pretty much are Slot.it and both are stuck down with so much magnet nothing Carrera has can even come close . No interest in either cause no 124

Hey now...
There are at least 3 versions of the 2D. Elon did the open back early car, Monogram in 1/24 did the glassed in version and everyone knows the classic Strombecker.
That should provide options. :laughing-rolling:
