Rebuilt Banked oval

Postby Dodgefarmer » Fri Jul 24, 2015 12:29 pm

I finally got the 1/43 Carrera oval resurrected after 1 1/2 yrs . I've added 5deg. banking, more for aesthetics than function. I've also added "paved" outer aprons and "dirt" inner aprons so that we are able to run a pair of 1/32 cars.

Hope you Enjoy

Thanks guys. I'm glad you enjoyed the pics.Rusty, I used 1/4" hardboard (masonite) for the aprons and eco-foam cork (laminate flooring underlay) for the base.

Thanks again guys. The oval is proving to be quite a hit. Although it is bigger than the status quo and bigger than what I would like, I have less than 2" total clearance to the inside track. I have already had to make some changes though. The track owner requested that the crossovers be removed as he was not impressed with the constant marshaling that they require. . and I've had to add a retaining wall to the turn 3 exit to prevent the death plunge. :scared-eek:. We've also discovered that the mag cars are quite boring so we are running mostly 1/32 no mag. The narrower cars (cuda mustangs etc.) can run side by side with a mandatory bump to pass.
