Quick Tape Trick - Sound/Height Adjustment

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Sat Dec 12, 2015 12:44 pm

On my chassis builds I discovered that with my body mounting technique there was some unusual sounds while racing.

It seems the styrene plastic I use for mounting tends to create quite a vibration sound. This is because I loosen the screws a little to allow some float. I did not want to tighten them, which works. Then we lose the float. So I used a tip I learned many moons ago for our ready to run models: MASKING TAPE.

Just cut/trim some ordinary masking tape and mount it on the braces.

You can easily trim it anyway you find easiest. I just use an Exacto blade.

You may not believe it, but it works and very well. I reduced the vibration noise to where the models were nearly silent.

This is also a great way to "micro adjust" the height of your body. By applying more layers, you can build it up enough to raise the body. This comes in handy if you glue in your plate a little off.

Hope it helps some of you.
