Carrera BASS PRO NASCAR - "The OOPs Editions"

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Mon Dec 14, 2015 7:50 pm

If you don't know the story, here is the short version: BASS PRO commissioned Carrera to create a set featuring the cars of Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick. The set was for the upcoming Christmas season and it looked like a great set.

Except those early birds who bought the set reported that some of the cars were "wrong". It seemed some models had the glass in the car swapped and they had the driver's names on the wrong car.

This was a big deal. Carrera took notice and fixed the problem. All was well.

But what to do with all these cars? Well, I can't say I know what happened to all of them. I DO know what happened one pair of them :)

I had a box on my stoop when I came home from work. I swear I saw a man in a red suit hurrying around the corner...could it be? Naaaa, Captain Carrera isn't real.

Anyway, inside were these 2 cool cars.

I have to say it is really a treat seeing these cars again. I miss my modern NASCAR and although these are based on the old "COT" molds, I think they look pretty good.

Fit and finish is excellent, accurate or not.

These are some pretty nice slot cars. Not sure who that man was, but I am told that "he" sees and hears all. So THANK YOU mysterious man in red. :occasion-xmas:

How hard would it be to swap windshields between two correct cars to make a set of the rare cars with wrong windshields?

Not hard at all really. It really doesn't matter to me, they are just nice and so was the thought.
