Haven't done a thing yet towards the actual build, but having a great time creating a parts list and thinking about it.
Yes, it will be a brass inline chassis, with maybe some piano wire for the bumpers or nerf bars. The Fairlane body will get a red, white, and blue paint job and be a combined tribute to Wendell Scott and Davey Allison.
All of the scratch built chassis in my past used Parma parts, so I'm a novice when it comes to 3/32 axles, wheels, bushings etc. Hence, a bunch more questions come to mind.
1) What size Slot.it axle is good to use with C.B. Design wheels with a max width (track) of 2 5/8"?
2) What bushings fit the PMTR1006 motor bracket at SCC?
3) I plan on using a 9 tooth pinion with a 27 tooth crown gear (from SCC). What's an offset crown gear and is there any difference between aluminum and brass crown gears?
4) I don't want to use the interior that came with the Monogram Fairlane body (too easy), so I'm wondering if I can build a plastic tray interior and mount a partial driver figure in it along with a dash and roll cage? Yes, I'll make it as realistic as possible.
Anyone thinking of other build stuff that hasn't occurred to me yet? Please let me know.
