Yeah its 16 degrees here out on the Island today - but the rest of the country has had it much worse. Actually hoping the Great South Bay will freeze up so the guys can race the vintage ice boats and scooters - some of the wooden 'scooters' are almost 100 years old and run out of Bellport Village. It only happens rarely, once a decade or so. The Bay needs about a solid week of cold...

Anyway - I know I am supposed to be looking at the Penguin, but what are those "Reality-style" mods you have? Are you folding your own? Does the Gary Winters car have small hole punches in the side? How are you doing those?

I have been folding some new bodies and will have to post up the latest creations. This style of slot car has really caught on amongst the Home Racers here in the North East - easy to build or buy RTR - fast, good handling, not that expensive, and pretty durable considering the bodies are laminated paper, and mostly perhaps, because they look just like the real nascar modified 'hero-cars' that race/tour this region.

Well, keep running laps and keep the tires warm...

Yea it hit 10 below last night...ekk... thats when he snuck in being too cold last night.. he getting hunger now..

Vintage..Yea I built a bunch of Reality Mod style cars for a group of slot racers that never ran on Ovals..these guys run either 1/32 stuff on plastic and Speed type Flexis on a hill climb..So these guy where the first group of Pro slot racers guys, ( Tons of non slot types.. and a had 15 of my Daughters friends racing, so its Kid approved..) to run on it.. My first thought they get bored real fast just going in circles.. But I proved them wrong.. They never had so much fun racing before, and are now building stuff to run...We have no Ovals around here.. It was a complete BLAST..

we ran the jalopies first..for them to get a feel..and switched to the sprints which one them over.. It was wild.. sideways and crazy..

Then we ran my Heros Mods..this was a quick group of builds I did for the night using a bunch of junk FCR frames and made some bodies.. ( I been making the resin parts for Ray at Reality and been waiting for some stuff..But I just made my own..) it was pretty easy and made them more detailed..I will be make a whole fleet..

I will someday post the build of the track..it runs just like I wanted it to..wasn't sure when I started it that it would work, but it is one FUN track..its the closet thing to Oval short track racing yet..

thanks Wood
