It is a great idea, and I look forward to seeing the car when it gets that far. really good start on it already. I like that full pan design.

 Gameover, they say there are no dumb questions, but you can sure get some wise ass answers...

For the body, it's going to be a Ford for sure.

I may have run into a snag with this chassis  Am waiting for a reply from the Boss  He did mention he was going to be busy this weekend.

Ok, spoke to the Boss...

The snag was that after putting on the running gear, I didn't have the proper ground clearance, not even close. Guidelines state 1/8" (or .125"), and I only had .080". So I need to raise the whole chassis up some. The Boss has gave me a few ideas on how to go about it. Looks like I'm going to remove the motor mount and do some filing so the "frame rails" are higher on the mount which will raise the chassis...

The body has just come out of the dipping tank. A little more dremeling (arrrgh!!!), and it'll be ready for it's new paint scheme.... :banana-dance:

Dickie, you're using BWA's forged brackets, rather than PM's. These don't have the side grooves made in, but have two .047 holes in the face. Also, the BWA is drilled for mounting 16D's as well as FK cans. The PM bracket is not.

Do you know what your ground clearance is now? Was the initial problem because the brass plate was under the rods coming off the motor bracket? I'm assuming the clearance is fine at the motor bracket using the designated wheels and tires, but you can't have anything that is below the bracket. Does that make sense?

Murphy is never far away during a build - no matter what we're working on. I try to diminish his by making drawings on graph paper of my ideas, but something still always goes wrong.

The chassis is now right at the recommended .125" height.

With the designated wheels and tires, the clearance is right at the .125" mark on the bottom of the PM (or BWA?) motor bracket. So yes, anything that is lower than the bottom of the bracket would essentially be below the designated height. At least that's my experience... ;)

Murphy was here during this build for sure. I kicked him out a few times, but I guess I kept forgetting to lock the door after doing so, cuz he kept coming back....

Your chassis looks great to me. I like a solid, somewhat heavy build for mine. I find they handle a lot better through the corners.
If something didn't go wrong at least once during a brass build, I would get worried!
Nice job on that one, should be a runner.
