I had to dump the idea of doing the Hendricks car. I'm embarrassed to admit I hadn't noticed the body I have been concentrating on carving up is a chopped body. I know its dumb, but that's what I did. On the other hand, this is going much faster and smoother now!

The picture that I posted did show HOCOC style coupes. I believe that the Hendrik #11 was a '36 Chevy and I have never seen a model of one of those. I saw the 1:1 car several times at the Thompson 5/8th high banked oval. The car had independant front suspension, which was very unusual at the time. '40s Willys bodies are easier to come by and if you cut them up properly they look a lot like a Chevy. The cars in the picture are not mine. Here is a fantasy livery in the '60s style.

Thanks, guys. I'm trying to figure out how to get the white panel on the sides now. I have some Friskett film but I never have tried it.

All these years, and I never thought of or heard of fogging the edges in, but that makes all kinds of sense. Its a semi-soluable lacquer seal, so the finish coat can't soak under the mask. That ingenious. I'll give it a shot. Thanks. I always liked the famous So-Cal scallop and I never tried it. This body already had the top chopped, it should look natural on there. It may be that some of the cast-in details will make the scallop impossible, so I may do a straight diagonal like so many modifieds had.

Can also use clear on the edges too, once you have laid down the tape hit it with a light coat of clear, let it set up and spray your color. Remove tape before it cures. Clean line every time. :)
