Those midget bodies look very good. I will have to have at least 2. I'm thinking brass rod chassis, and smallish motor of some kind. Welcome to HRW! I'm right at 50 years playing with these little cars myself. :)

In looking for more pictures of older style midgets, I found these two websites that are chock full of historic oval track photos:
www.memaerobilia.com
This site is by the son of Joe Gertler, a well known midget builder. If you want pix of Elto motored cars, they are here.

And this one is so huge, with many, many sub-links, I have just begun to get into it:
http://winfield.50megs.com/
It's called Bob Lawrences Vintage Auto Racing Web Ring

Enjoy. In the near future, I'll be able to offer a "vintage" looking 1930's thru 1950's midget body that will be more like the "other" (non-Kurtis and Kurtis clone) midgets, and will require an FF motor to be mounted on it's side due to the narrow bodywork. Stay tuned.

And if you guys got thru all of the Lawrence websites, here is another treasure trove of midget photos....I got to page 8 and was getting cross-eyed...
http://www.ratrodsrule.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6529
I think I'll have to build an ELTO powered model...in the words of Al Penrose Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Two strokes are noisy enough without a 4-6" diameter exhaust pipe blaring away, bet they didn't allow then at the indoor midget races....
Evidently the ELTO (Evinrude Light Twin Outboard) motors were 4 cylinders opposed (like a VDub), 60 cubic inches, and ran with the cylinders pointed fore and aft, crank vertical driving thru a right angle gearset in to the in-out box. There are some crappy Youtube videos of an ELTO being run in Fairbanks, AK. If anyone else can get the videos to run, I'll retract the crappy hit.
Stay tuned.....
