Excellent routing tips - you're almost ready for braid! BTW - like the color you chose too.

The first time I read this I thought you said Weasel Gray...

Out of curiosity... you routed with the track flat, why not do the gains and then do the elevations? Seems easier to me - spoken in my lazy voice.

Correct, I should/could have done the gains for the corners when I did them outside.

It simply slipped my mind about this until it was too late and had the track fully assembled. Since I had to have the banking installed before mounting the sheets up on the table, I had to do it like this.

But the same occurred on the MIDMO when I braided it. Some sections, although it appears flat enough, have a slight bend. You can attest to that as you raced in it.

Wasn't really that much of an issue. Just marked the start and stop points and let it eat :)

Thanks of the color mention Mr. SCC :) It has dried and like the looks of it well enough.

Could there be a car running

Reading this and most of the other build threads is a great learning experience. Thank you for taking the time to tutorialize (new word) your art and craft.

Thanks guys. Glad to hear a few folks feel the info is helpful.

Yes, it looks pretty good Dave. The first soaker coat is darker, but the seal coats lighten it.

Wish this tutorial was about three years earlier when I was building my track. The track is really looking good. Now the big decision is should I just rework my track or start all over?

Harry, since the subtitle of this thread is "Lake Show-Me", I think you have to plan to paint a patch of blue somewhere in the infield and make a little sign post that says Lake Show-me. Maybe with a pretend lake, another real one will stay away.

Cheers,

Same sentiment here CJ, and I googled tutorialize for you, and it is a real word.
So Harry has a process to tutorialize us in the building of a routed for braid track.
So far no negative remarks to which i could say " I resemble that remark"
Harry looking good sir. The color is a good choice. I am looking forward to
the laying of the braid. That is a definite weak area for me.

Well thanks.

You may not think so, but laying the braid is the easiest part of the whole build. Unlike tape, it just goes into the gains and easily worked with to rest against the edge.

I'll try and get a video of it.

I'll never forget Bob and Dickie out here for the first time. I took a photo of Bob starting to lay the braid and while I was editing and posting the photo, Dickie asked me if I wanted to lay any myself. I said yes, and he said "Well you better hurry!". I went back to the track and Bob had done 2 lanes!

Seeing how the track is developing, you may want to post some signs on your pond like 'no fishing' and 'no swimming'. Not saying that anyone would try it but you know someone may try it.
