Had an fat envelope arrive today. Inside was a couple of great old magazines from the late 60's.

Both magazines are full of these kinds of photos. Not to mention cool old race posters, stories, driver bio's...what a great read.

Thanks so much sir. This is one heck of a surprise. Now I need a small loan for all the parts I will need to start building them :)

Just too cool. :auto-driving:

If you see any photos from Southside Speedway in Richmond (once listed as a NASCAR track- I am amazed to report), the photos would have been taken by our own Eugene's father (Mopar Jenny's dad). His father was the photographer there for decades.

Talk about a blast from the past! I have a copy of the issue on the right, which I believe was from 1963. Here is the 1964 issue. The famous L&M car still exists, it originally had an automatic transmission and was powered by a GMC 6 cylinder that laid nearly flat in the chassis. The car won a lot of qualifying races at Waterford because sixes and flathead V8s started in front of the cars with OHV V8s. I was there the night the engine blew up, a piston went right through the block and flew through the air trailing smoke!
