Well, it happened again, another oval to the dumpster, this will be # 2. This track was in storage for the last 2 years. Don't worry, another oval will be built once I create room.

We should have traded. I have to sell the property that has the barn on it which holds my 1965 American Model Raceways Red Imperial (150' eight lane grandfather of the King track). It was the track that many nationals and Eastern Nats were raced on years ago. I have decided that if no one will come and get it it, it will have to go to the dump, history and all. It kills me. You can imagine how much space that thing takes up. I have over $3000 in it, and I have to sell that property or else. It can't sit out in the rain, and there's no one who can house it all set up. When I rescued it from a tobacco barn, it took two large rental trucks, four pickups, two of them with trailers, and assorted station wagons and vans. The crew was 16 strong, with assorted children and grandchildren and took most of a day- including a dozen pizzas and beer to celebrate finishing.

If you can face it, I guess I can. But believe me, I sympathize.

What a shame. I enjoyed racing on the Imperial more than the original configuration King. In the 1980's we ran everything from womps to hardbodies to wing cars on an epoxy surfaced Imperial that was here on Long Island. I like the slight elevation changes down the front straight, and the tiny short chute in the middle of the donut. Wish I could help to rescue the track. I hope someone else can, it would be a crime to have to destroy it. If somebody has a decent barn or garage, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity! Good luck. -- Ernie :>)

A sad day indeed. My la.st track ended up the same way. To this day I still kick myself for doing it.

Shame I only got to run on it just a few times but it was a blast. Sad day indeed.
