My ASA attempt

Trying to build something different, a mix of all the cool stuff I see on here!
I'd say it's about 60% done, needs front/rear bumpers,body mounts and some bracing but initial laps are promising, it's faster than my Camaro and I think will be much better with a body and some weight.

That looks like a pretty nice project. Can you tell us about the spring in the chassis?

Its kinda a modified drop tongue, the spring pushes on the tongue to keep a even pressure on the guide. The first one I built in 1/24 ran so well I thought I would try it.
It seems with varying tracks/conditions you could adjust your guide quite often to get the optimum height, this sorta takes care of some of that.
It probably won't be competitive or take a huge hit but it was and is just plain fun to try to build.

Btw: it's a pen spring, tried Lego springs, hardware store, etc and this one works the best.

Frydaddy, next time you want to try different tension springs, find a friend with some old guitar strings. Wind them individually around something round, such as a phillips screwdriver shaft or a spike & make yourself a supply. Strings about .014-.015 diameter can be used to make motor brush springs, should you need any of them.

Yep, The water is a rising fast! It's already got the whole area traffic backed up, glad I'm at home and in the Slotcave making good use of the free time.

Got a little further along, got the body mounts done, rear bumper and some misc stuff. Might not do a front bumper, don't think it'll really help in a big one :(

Harry, would be great to come down before the showdown, I've mentioned it to Brew and Razor, we'll see what we can come up with.

I just glue small blocks of foam rubber to the arm using different lengths & densities.........

Well work and life has been extremely busy lately and haven't had much time to work on the cars or the track but have got a little further on the ASA car.
Got to run some laps with Strangebrew with it and I'm pretty happy so far, even though my oldest ran a faster time with it than I did!
I'm super excited to meet everyone next week at Harry's, I have a lot to do to get the hot rods finished!
The car Harry gave me is my first resin car, first full interior( without pillaging a plastic car totally) and my 2nd brass chassis. The interiors are way harder than I thought, the work everyone here does is envious!
