Hey all! Just getting back into the hobby after a big move and life happening. I had my routed track featured here on readers roads around 2007. Couldn't take it with me. I miss that track! I just got a room cleared out to have enough room to make a nice sized tri oval. Footprint will be 12 ft X 6 ft and will be a 3 lane. Lane spacing is 4 1/2" for the big cars and sliding action. Got all excited when I saw you guys building old school mods and nascar stockers. The east coast mods and supers also turned me on. Don't have enough room for a big road course so I opted for a tri oval. Cant go wrong there. This is the table for the track itself. Now its time to build the fun part! I'll post more pics as I go along. ( I saw in another post that if there are no pics, it doesn't exist!) Keep up the great work, gentlemen. Love all the project pics! Rich

Ditto, good start.

I just love watching new track builds. It is always interesting to see how different people overcome the challenges that always arise during the build as well as the different visions that we all have. I'm looking forward to seeing it come to life.

More progress here. The engineering department screwed up on the back straight! Looked good on paper! Got it handled though. Ended up with 5 degrees of banking. Pictures don't show it well but it is in fact banked. The corners are routed now I have to get going on the straights and cut slots for the power feeds. Turning out good this far. I'll add more pics as I go. :D

Ah yes, progressing nicely. Well done. I can almost smell the race fuel.

Have you made any more progress? It's almost time for the Daytona 500 and the 24 Hours of Rolex. This track fits the bill perfectly and I have been thinking of building one just to use 2 times a year, Daytona 500 and the Firecracker 400. I was following with interest to see how it raced when it was finished.

I'm ready to start the paint process. I haven't taken any recent pics. I've been rudely interrupted by work! I will get on it though!

Finally some more action on the track! Took a little different approach to the paint option. I primed the track with Sherwin Williams ATX high build primer. Sanded it down with a d/a sander and then used a black epoxy primer over the top. Being a paint & body guy by trade, I thought I would try this out. The epoxy primer is very durable and is resistant to pretty much anything short of paint stripper. The track in the pics looks really slick & shiny but does have an asphalt like texture to it. How it races and how the cars handle on it??? I will give full reports when I find out. Next step is adding the copper tape! Rich

Oh, keep it coming. I like the hole idea and it looks great. I'm interested in knowing how the paint choice works out. I had thoughts of doing something similar when I was building my track. I was going to try a enamel self leveling paint for as smooth a surface as I could get, but in the end went with the latex paint.

I love the size and tri-oval configuration. I would love to have one to go with my other track.
