Glen ,

I have a problem of not having enough room for a permanent track . I'm heavily into racing T-Jets and keep my tracks limited in size . If a 4x8 oval fr 1/32nd car would work , I'd be all over that idea . Although I've never tried it , I do have a couple of ARTIN 4 lane sets to use if 4x8 works out .

Harry ,

The 4x8 you submitted a picture of is a nice track .
Let me ask you ,

How did it work out (was it big enough to enjoy) ?

What voltage did you run ?

What scale cars did you run ?

Would it handle WOMPS ?

My final question would be : Would a 4x8 oval offer the same results that your 4x8 routed oval did ? If so , I'd be tempted to build a 4x8 1/32nd Oval and a new HO road course as an insert to place on top of it . ( just brain storming here ) .

Old Johnny ,

What do you mean by softening the entry to the bends ?

Thx

Harry ,

Thank you for your input . It really helped a lot . I've been thinking of building an Oval track for some time now . Every time someone starts one and posts , I get that idea again but >ahhhhhh > I don't move on it . This time I'm going to FORCE myself to digging my ARTIN 4 lane sets out of the garage and setting up a small 4 lane oval to try it out . Then I'll know first hand . If it flies and my racing cohorts like it as well , I'll consider a routed 3 lane track for the spring when I can route outside . I say three lane because even after good advice >> I love my WOMPS >>.

I live in eastern Ohio and grew up around dirt tracks and before getting the T-Jet virus was an all out Oval slot car racer . I still race 1/24th FCR cars on occasion but the 100 mile round trip to the track takes some fun element away . While there I also give my old WOMPS their exercise as well .

By the way , your Martinsville track looks great .

Thx for the input .

Dreinecke ,

Thank you for the picture of your 3 lane track . If my experiment with the plastic track works out , that's what I'd like to build in the spring . Nice job , it looks great .
*********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

WB2 ,

I thought it might mean adding an R4 and working down . I was looking for R4's for a while but realized I didn't have the room for a bigger track . Using the 4x8 footprint would allow for easy set up / take down . At that point if it worked out , I'd route one opposed to looking for R4's which are hard to find .

Thanl you all ,

Here's my 8'x4' oval I just built this fall. It's modeled after the Milwaukee Mile 2.25 degree banked straights and 9.5 degree turns.
It's powered by a variable voltage pyramid regulator. Our favorite to run is our custom built 1/32 sprints. We also run Carerra and Scalextric.
There's even room to run two 1/24's. I used 1/2" MDF board.

First let me apologize to glen71 for Hi Jacking his post . I didn't mean to do that Glen but the thread is getting better and better still . There is a lot of information being passed on here .

inhymn4Him and NorCalMike , thank you for your photo's . All of the tracks presented here have been of highest quality .

With the bull ring type track that short tracks create , how do you score your races . I'm sure with even 3 cars it gets intense and laps can get lost .

Thx

On my Little D, I have never held formal races. Only friends banging fenders for the fun of it. It does have a dead strip but I have never hooked it up to a timing system.

Thanks for all of the fine info shared. Ya'll are really getting me excited to get this started. We are currently racing on a two lane 7x3 scalextric with app race control. Also have the Carrera bass pro set up on the floor in formal dinning room, which wife says must be remove. All that races is my 8 year old and my self. This is his reward for getting his homework done in a timely manner. Not much interest hear in South Carolina, but we love it.
