Beautiful work. Very sharp. What are you using for the header and velocity stacks or air filters? Cant wait till it's finished. Keep up the beautiful work. Bob.................

Lee that is great work. How about a little more info about how you coat the tires and get uniform thickness.
I just bought some silicone yesterday to see if I could take a Protrack sponge, turn it down and put in my tire mold then pour silicone around it. I used to make solid tires, but the silicone adhering to the rim is always a problem.
George Lowe used to have a primer he put on the rim which made the silicone really stick to the rim, but I believe it was some type of commercial product and required a purchase of 5 gallons or more. Your method looks as good as the tires Protrack coats.
Big Donkey (Larry Baisch) makes some great bodies and my old mold made in the 90's was shot last time I pulled it out, so I got a couple of the Strombecker Dirt Track bodies from him. They finish nicely and are a bargain at his price. Take a look at Big Donkey Resins.

mattb if you look at the pictures above about how I coat my tires... I put about 1/2 inch silicone on the puddy knife, the apply to the tire while the drill is running, I just keep working it so everything is level, I keep the coats thin so that I prevent drips, coat tire with 3 coats, wait about 4 hours between each coat, there is no need to thin silicone, also I don't true the tires either.

Thanks Lee, I'll give your method a try. I assume each coat is almost like a coat of paint?
I will also grind down some foam tires and put them in a tire mold and try coating with 2 part silicone.
