"Way Too Much" Mopar

Ok, Rob's car arrived.



In testing, there seemed to be something holding it back. Can't put my finger on it yet...but it has to be something easy to fix :)

Rob built a 2 wheeler, Harry just move one of the fronts to the rear and stand that MOPAR on its side, might beat FryDaddy :laughing-rolling:

Its very generous of you to go ahead and run it around, being 2 days later than advertized. Only one drive wheel is the penalty for lateness, ya see. Did ya see the Dan Gurney bump in the roof? That's because there was so little room in the interior, I had to hot glue the driver's helmet to the roof to keep him still. Thin roof. It weighs a ton, too. Slow takeoff, immense damage to whatever it hits!

Not often that Curly leaves the SkunkWorks Boneyard, but thank goodness he did because he found the problem.



This is totally out of character as he normally welcomes parts/pieces into his care. Guess he really wants to watch this thing go.



I think he knows what tool to use too. So the fellas are working on it and we will be back on the track in no time.

Well, back on the track and this car is not a bad runner at all. Looks pretty good too.





I think Rob used a chassis from an old Sherman or maybe a M60 Tank. This thing could have been a MAJOR player in the race as I don't think anyone would stand a chance against it in combat.

Smooth though.
Average lap time: 3.15 Not bad when you factor in the heft of this beast.

Remember....
Horse power is how fast you are going when you hit the wall
Torque is how much of the wall you take out when you hit it.

In scale racing the weight helps replicate the torque.

It's a Mopar so it would have won for sure. Mopar or no car that how I roll too. Nice ride.

Thanks again for running it, Harry. I suddenly realized when it was too late, that at some point, I added a brass plate for weight (wrong side), that I never intended to put on. I was sure I would mess up the one, and made two, then came back to the shop three days later and soldered the spare on without thinking for a second. Dang. On the other hand, I have now done two side pans perfectly, just one on the wrong side of the car and adding a lot to the weight. Not really all that consoling.

Just for interest, look at the difference in shade between the bumpers and the body. The bumpers are the raw brass, sanded and sprayed with the same lacquer as the body, just 3 less coats and not over flat gold. Amazing difference, huh?
