Too hot to play outside, so I spent the afternoon doing a repaint of a car that I didn't like.

I just noticed Photobucket took away my 3rd party share option & I'm not giving them
$35 to get it back..........so I'm starting over with postimage.org

Lousey red/yellow paintjob, so changed it to gold.............

Rebuilding a Vega clone of my buddy's dirt car from back in the day.
I had previously built a static model for him.



I built a 1:32 slotter that never ran good a while back.
Took it off the shelf, shortened the body 1/4", changed gear ratio, tuned it,
put new home-brew tires on the old resin wheels, repainted & redecaled.
It runs a good as I can get it now.

In the spirit of re-creating some of the rides at my home dirt track in the 70's,
I did another re-do of an old slotter I built 3 years ago.
This is my first ever modified ride at the old Highland Speedway circa 1975.
I wound up putting it over the backstretch wall...........Never was any good :D



This car never did run good either.Seems like I have a lot of these. :oops:
I moved the guide forward a bit, put some new home-brew urethanes, repainted, re-decaled & tuned a little bit.
I think it's also ready for a trip to the Skunkworks now without being embarassed.

I'm digging' the midwestern mod pics. It's interesting to see the differences between the east coast mods of that era and the midwest cars.

Continuing with the "Back in the Day" theme. ("padirtfan" might appreciate this)
99" wheelbase, big block, Nash Metropolitans were a very popular ride in the late 60's & early 70's.
I can't imagine how hard these monsters would have been to wrestle around the 1/5 mile Belleville bull ring.
Gotta' remember....no power steering. The biggest steering wheel you could get had to do the job.:roll:
Don't have a color picture of Ray Eby's Nash, but it was a beautiful metallic purple & blue with a
great detailed big block Chevy engine. Note the chrome megaphone exhausts. (Well......seven of them anyway) :lol:



I built my version a while back..........Another car that didn't run so good.
I re-motored it, replacing the tired Parma 16D with an MT5. Moved the guide forward a bit & new Pro-Track wheels with home brewed urethanes.
Had to butcher up a "not so good" chassis a bit, but it runs pretty OK now I guess.
I didn't re-paint, but tried to save a battered paint job (too much time at the bottom of the parts box) with some Future.

Looks outstanding.

These cars look great, I really like to see the replication of cars that were part of your memory or history. Please keep posting..

What is the effect of the guide further forward or does that change car to car?
