Got a start on a mod for the Summer Showdown in July.
I found this chassis languishing in the scrap pile on my work bench.
I don't know what I was building this for, but it got tossed in the pile some time ago.
I figured I'd resurrect it for the Showdown.



I built it for 3/32 axles, but I wanted to use 1/8, so I drilled out the rear bearings &
slipped 1/8 Pro-Track wheels over the front brass housing for a free wheeling front end.
I soldered a washer as an inside stop & epoxied a styrene rod in the center & tapped
for a screw to keep the wheels in place.
Added some light brass sheet to the bottom & a few 3/64 brass rods in a few places.



I figured it needed a big block Chevy engine



Got the Corvair body mounted where it needs to be.



I'll work on finishing it up this week........I hope. :whistle:

Pretty and nice Brew! Wadda ya do change up yer header makin method on me? Yer always an inspiration and thanks for the motivation...I needed that...Sure don't know if I'd ever guess it started as a "Vair" though....Great job Brew and thanks for showing up with another knock-out!

Oh yeah...now I think I do see it...oh wait... no...not really though..aw shucks! ...I think your modified looks way sharper than the real Corvair to me. Ever think of doing some design consulting for G.M.? Your cars are the best ever Brew! I don't want to wear out my welcome, but if and whenever you might have an extra for sale,I know an old dirt mod fan who would covet one. I very much appreciate ALL your slot car efforts Brew! ...P.S. Is there a source for those rat motors? .. And... (yes, I really do see it Brew... I just couldn't help messin with another modified fan like myself)...just good fun!

OK....The 'Vair is officially finished.
I went with a couple of wet coats of Dupli-Color Clear-Effex followed by a coat of future.
Back in the day, in case anybody thinks I'm a bit "out there", some of the mod guys
actually went with metal flake & faded paint jobs.
We even had a flip top, metal flake Henry-J back in the 60's. 8-)

That is wicked nice hey!
well, I'm going to send something nonetheless, lol.

I don’t think mine deserves quite as flashy a finish as that but it’s coming since I missed the January event, dam nice job you did there Brew !
