Dayton Bombers
Larry Swift drove his big Plymouth away from the field, winning by 6 laps. This set up an interesting situation as the big Checker that won Race 1 was missing from the field. Race 3 will be a true showdown. The rest of the field are all separated by one point each, while Steve Smith retains a slight lead.
Riverside Late Models
This was one of the closest races in Smith Scale Speedway history. The top 5 drivers were separated by a total of only three laps. Adele Smith and Jeremy Blood finished on the same lap, with Adele getting the track position for her first ever win in this division. Megan Blood, Luis Smith, and rookie Kyle Perham all finished on the same lap with track position determining 3rd through 5th. Adele takes over the point lead after winning this 9 car feature.
Dexter Park Midgets
Returning driver Luis Smith edged out Jeremy Blood on the same lap to take the win, and the points lead. This was a brutal race and may have set a record for most cars over the wall. The open-wheelers are deadly when they get together. Steve Smith finished less than a lap behind the winner, but in this close race that was only good for third. Will Luis be able to sustain the pace and keep the lead after a year off?
SSS Pro Stocks
The mighty Pro Stocks ran a double feature with two points races. Jim Rhodes won the first race, and Steve Smith notched another win in the second race. Larry Swift, even after a month off, finished a close second in both races. There were some huge wrecks in this race. Luis Smith got hit hard enough to shear off his front right fender. Many of the cars had Frank Gibbs tribute decals. We lost Frank last year. His dominance in this division will be long remembered.
Next race - June 30, 2013
