Hey! Is that Mickey Rooney in one of those "hot rods"? :>)
There must be plenty of guys out there who've seen that movie... Ernie

Andy Hardy's Big Day? something like that? Somewhere in there, Judy Garland says, "Hey, we could put on a show ourselves!", whereupon, a 40 piece orchestra would come into being by vapor and all the neighborhood kids suddenly danced like pros, especially dividing themselves in to leads and chorus. Oh yeah, that was all the Andy Hardy movies, wasn't it?

Judy Garland said "Hey, I know, why don't we put on a show" in almost every film she did with Mickey Rooney. The few that she didn't say it, he did.

But, looking at the photo I don't think any of the drivers are short enough to be Mickey Rooney.

My favorite Andy Hardy movie was "Andy Hardy Gets A Hickey". Rooney and Garland really go after it. Guess it was too risque', though... you never see it on the classic channels.

My brother just reminded me of the name of the movie I was referring to - "The Big Wheel", starring Mickey Rooney. He goes from racing cars like the ones in the above photo to the Indianapolis 500. Always like to watch that with another great old racing flick starring James Cagney - "The Crowd Roars", also about the earlier, bloodier days at Indy.
It's good to have younger siblings to remind us of such things! -- Ernie
