Hey Woodguy, nice seeing you post again, and thanks for the update. Funny thing, someone on another forum posted your profile pic, and I knew right away it was Your track and cars. And I got to thinking about you, and wondered how your battle with the Big C was going.
I hope you are over the hump now, and you can start posting more often. As I for one, missed seeing and reading yer stuff :)
Take care, and ya'll come back now- ya hear ;)

Thanks HRW Guys.
This track like all my Ovals will be very different, so many different ways to go in circles ..lol
When I get more done I will explain what makes this one pretty unusual..
It is very close to 1/24 scale to Freeport Stadium which once housed a football field also.. making it easy to scale out..Only issue is the width of track itself is out of scale to accommodate the 5 lanes for slots..
Its up on wheels so it can be rolled around and the best part it is not in the wood shop like the others.. so I can run it anytime.. (My other tracks take so long to clear the sawdust.. even covered in plastic )
It will be a Fun build with tons of planned extras.. hope to be a never ending project..
The sign is a story in itself..Freeport is my home track..I grew up in Bellmore 2 towns away and heard them from my house.. you sure could tell the Modifieds where running.. What a sound..
The sign itself is a handpainted thing I did one night, but still need to put on the patina and rust to make it look right.
But the sign means more.. as a kid in highschool I got a job at Decal Makers in Bellmore blocks away from home so I did art and printed decals..So the funny thing is I printed the decals for the Freeport, the same design was used at Islip also another Long Island track..
Yup .. sure brings back get memories .
More to follow..
Thanks Woodguy32

Oh .. if you look way back on the first turn.. you can see a bigger car.. well that is the new scale I am scratch building ..1/16 vintage sprint cars with workable steering and drivers with hinged arms attached to the steering wheels going at it ....they will be huge and heavy .... only be able to run 2 at a time on this track.. lol but more on that later

Wood, what joy to see you back - and so clearly back in action!
You've been away so long that some of us had begun to fear the worst, and didn't like to ask.
I'm guessing the new oval is about 16 x 8; with those squeezes, it looks a bit like a UK Slotstox track - but not for long,I'm sure, when you get going on the scenery.
Looking forward to seeing it develop.
David.
