Here is a project that has sat for too long in old Skunkworks.



The Chevy kit has sat for a long time waiting for me to get motivated. The recent Ford kit was the kick in the gear I needed. The Chevy kit has decals, but to make Speedy Thompson I need to cut and swap the numbers. No issue really, just a step I want to take.



I think the two models will make a good match up. They are pretty much the same size.







Going to use the scale GY's Paul makes for the fronts. I was going to use them all the way around but he made a new tire that is better suited for the rear.



Since I am going to sand/true them anyway, these new tires are perfect. Still have nice sidewall form and look good to me. But as important as looks might be, performance is also a goal. These will fall into our HRW Classic NASCAR Series and they better run :)

Will use old H&R chassis that are in the "recycle" bin. Power will be the MT-5 motor.

More to come as the old chassis get hammered out.

It's been busy...and I am slow (old).

Here is the chassis for the Chevy. This old H&R has seen some HARD racing over the years. The last car it was under had a "mishap" going into turn 1 on the Show-me. I was between HRW Jim & Tom. It got pinched and sailed into the air with grace..and then slammed the wall right on the right side wheel. It bent the bulkhead so bad the axle jammed.

Into the "Boneyard" it went.

Until we dug it out. Curly is never happy to lose such prized possessions, but with his help and little heat and a hammer...it is ready to race again.



Once it was all repaired and check, it was cleaned and repainted.



Slow going but we are making progress. Need to find Curly though, he wandered off with my other wheels again. :whistle:

As usual I get a little "sidetracked" :)

One more little project to finish, then back to work.

Pretty good excuse huh?
