Put some track time on these puppies sunday, over 500 laps
both ran strong, and had no problems with the new pin guide/brush set-up.
Anyone building one of Shotgun Daves midget bodies or an SRP body,i would highly recomend the radio shack 9v micro motor part #273-047,it has plenty of torque for these little cars and great scale speed at 12volt track power. It also fits very nice in the tight confines of a 1/32 midget.

Not sure on that Dave,i remember looking at all the choices at my store, and found that one to be my choice.
i wasnt sure about the 24,000 rpm thing as i didnt want to much power, butt it worked out perfect,it is my weapon of choice for all my future midgets
The other thing was the smaller output shaft,i wanted to use the artin 1/43 pinion to keep good gear mesh, ended up using an HO mega-g pinion, same count, same pitch, press fit. very smooth and quiet running.the artin 1/43 ring gear is a great fit (read very tight) on a slot-it axle.i know you use the the slip on/set screw gear, but i wanted to use as much of the donor chassis as i could to cut costs, and oh yea,i had some!

truly, i could not be any more pleased with the smooth running and power of these cars.i amazed myself with the first one! for a scratchbuilt,ya never really know how its going to run, butt these are the poo! i went artin because of the vast amount of available chassis, plus as you said,im a scrounger from way back! i mean really, thirty new cars on e-bay for $30? how can you beat that! and im sure i can come up with some wheel inserts to replicate more realistic choices. thats a bunch of midgets, you better get ta casting!

How about a build up with a parts list? Would make a dynamite tutorial. Our group loves midgets but we're running the new style.

Honestly,i don't have a clue how to do a tutorial! as you can see my photography stinks, and and my build style is all over the map.
I would be more than happy to post a parts list.
Let me consult the masters on the tutorial thing, might be I can fumble thru something.
