I've been building this in my spare time over the last few months. It's a tribute to Ascot Park Raceway, which used to be located in Gardena, CA. Now that the track is up and running, I'll be working on the scenery over the next few months.

11'8" X 5'4" footprint with 4" lane spacing, 6" gutters in the turns and 4" along the straights. 30 amp power supply at 10 volts and Trakmate lap counter using dead strips.

Looks great! I loved going to Ascot. Ascot one night, Saugus the next! Both are gone now. : (

Looks great to me, I am sure you will have a fun time on it.
Have finished your submission. As you add more to your layout, you can send in updates. The project I am doing will be launched New Years.

I pass by there every day. Still painful...

Great job of recreating the old track at 183rd and Vermont.
J.C. Agajanian and Mike Curb would be proud of ya! Miss that track a lot.
What a waste to stop the racing on the old landfill and then never do anything with it.
I was supposed to race the last race there in a 360 sprint car. Unfortunately, the car was destroyed the weekend before and we didn't have time to rebuild it.
I have some great pictures from there. Once I get them scanned I will try and post them.
Perris has done a good job of replacing Ascot but it's a long drive from my house to there; about double what Ascot was.

Great looking track, Jeff. I was looking at some old photos to see what scenery you might be adding. The overall look of Ascot was pretty spartan
but I did notice several palm trees present - little odd for a raceway anywhere but Southern California. Don 't know where you can find scale versions of those but good luck.
Hope to be visiting sometime in the near future.

Marcus, you're spoiling my next update - I do have a source for scale palm trees and that's next on the agenda.
Harry, I will keep you updated.
Foamy and VenturaAlfa, I miss Ascot a lot - the cars that I watched racing there were a big influence on the types of slot cars I like to build.
All the rest, thanks for your kind words.

My compliments to you on your AWESOME track. Ascot had a pond towards turn one with palm trees in its early years. The X was outlined with telephone poles with a concession stand between the X and the backstretch. Worked there as an official for Sunday night stock cars the year before they closed. I have made plans to do a replica of Saugus Speedway (since thats where i started racing) and have most of the material to start. Thanks for the motivation and sorry for the rambling.

The palm trees and the pond would be correct and cool. Don't forget the jump for the motocross track.
Bobby 57. Please PM me with when you raced at Saugus. I have some great pics that go from black and whites right up until they closed. Who knows you maybe in one or more of them.
I can claim to have won the last sanctioned race at Saugus. It was an LAKC KT100 kart race. I drove for winner circle motorsports back in those days. Unfortunately, our EMT was killed in the next race when he hit the wall and that was what stopped racing for LAKC there.
