Modifieds for Christmas

My boys both really like the modified cars I've been putting together and Cooper specifically asked for one for Christmas..
I had planned on making him a Camaro Trans Am car of the Frank Grimaldi #80 since we had met Frank and Cooper
got to sit in his car etc earlier this year, so I decided to combine the paint scheme of the Trans Am car and put it on
to a modified.. 'Vintage 1/24' did a great job with just a couple pictures of the Camaro and nailed the look in modified form.
He also whipped up a 'Pokemon' sponsored body for my other boy Carter.. I cut, folded and assembled chassis.. didn't
finish till Christmas Eve. End result was a couple happy boys on Christmas morning and a couple great looking mods to add to our field~

Very nice cars. How long did they run them or are they still going around the track?

well, Coopers #80 has at least 1000 laps on it already.. Carters, not so much.
He's my 'brainiac' and has been playing mostly with the Snap Circuits setup we got him.
He doesn't race with Cooper and I so much, but that's fine.. at least he's got his own Mod to run with us when he does~

Here's the Camaro the #80 Mod is based on.. Thats Frank Grimaldi in the background and Cooper in the drivers seat..

I like the look of the wheel/tire setup you're using. Here on Long Island we use Pro Track "Daytona" black foam rubber, typically starting with.910 or .880" rears and minimum .800" fronts. The fronts are of course coated with paint or nail polish and seldom need replacement. Using this set up, our cars ride low and it's always a challenge to pass the 1/16' clearance on the pre-race tech block! Performance of course is great, but the rears wear quickly, even if the "N" (natural rubber) type isn't used (it's driver preference).
After a few races the rears are usually worn down enough so they will no longer pass tech, and need to be replaced. The races on the largest track are well over two hundred laps each, plus practice running, so that's not too bad for tire life.
Are those tires you're using silicone? What size are they? It appears in the photos that the front and rear are the same.
"Vintage 1/24" is part of the local scene here and is providing us with 1/24 and 1/32 modified and super modified bodies as the market demands. We're running a Long Island Asphalt Modified Tour (1/24 cars) on three different short track ovals. They're all braided MDF four laners with turns approx. 5-7' radius and straights of 8' being the shortest, and 14' being the longest. Lap times on the largest track run in the low two second range, using the H&R 40,000 rpm blue motor @ about 12 volts with 48 pitch gears, ratio is driver's option.
So, there are quite a bit of these beautiful bodies being used in our various racing series. He does excellent work, I'm sure you agree!
Enjoy your new racers, and thanks in advance for answering my "spec" questions. HAPPY NEW YEAR! -- Ernie :>)

I am glad to see they made it in time and they managed to get assembled and RTR in time for some Christmas Time laps - good job!

I agree on the wheel/tire setup - they have a nice scale look and really set off the scale Modifieds just right.

They all look great! - And thanks for all the positive comments and posts about these nymodifieds.com cars.

Always nice work, man! Thanks again for the great job on my light blue #14 Mini Mod body.
I've got more custom "paint jobs" in mind for future builds.
See ya next time I'm out at South Shore Speedway or Mortonsville.
HAPPY NEW YEAR !! -- Ernie
