For value you can’t beat Laptimer 2000 it’s FREE
Just search it on the web and download the program it includes instructions on how to construct and connect sensors or dead strips
I use it on both of my tracks and find it works great :D

SlotTrak is also free. Provides full fuel/tire options, race configuration, etc.
Runs with any type of sensor (dead strip, IR, lights).

For fun drag racing, it's hard to beat the Slot Dragon system. It's self contained (ie-no computer needed), works well, and customer service seems to be good overall.
The downside is, at least what we experienced using light sensors, is you can "cheat" the start if you have a long car. Not a problem so much with HO cars, but 1/24 cars, the longer the car, the quicker you could leave as the timer didn't start until the rear of the car uncovered the light.
Also, it only gives reaction time and ET. No 60', 1/2" or mph.

The trackmate system works well, and you can get a lot more features, but it's also a lot more money.

I believe Slot Dragon is about to release a new version and I believe it will have MPH and I've been told for 1/2 track just another set of sensors would do it of course none of this has been confirmed. But yea for the price it sounds good enough. Thanks for the tip about long wheelbase
