I was wondering if anybody is racing the new Pioneer Camaro in serious or semi serious racing. I have raced with three groups who have raced Historic TransAm cars and to be honest I have always gravitated to the 1970 Type Scaley Camaro. In all three groups we were relegated to Slot It orange end bell motors. One group ran magnets and two did not. I have raced against but never with a Pioneer Car. I was wondering if anybody could give me some tips they use to get the Pioneer Cars competitive or better than the Scaley cars.

All based on your rules for starters. So without knowing that, some suggestions maybe a waste of your time.

For HRW non-mag? Swap in the 13T pinion, trim the chassis edges like I showed in the review, and add a good set of tires.

That's all I do here and they are pretty much even.

I think the Mustang is a better car. The front sits proud with the guide not fully in the slot. Buff down the tyres to reduce the diameter by about 2mm. Replace the front bearings with some old scaly ones as the Pioneer bearings are too sloppy for non mag racing. This will drop the height of the car. This will also allow you to run up to 4mm wider front track. With some careful rear wheel arch sanding you can squeeze between 2-4mm extra rear wheel track. Usually body float stuff also remove the locating tabs on the bottom of the interior as you cant get float with them in place. Run 13T pinion and 36T spur on short tracks. Long tracks with straights in excess of 10 metres use 34T spur.

You have to trim the chassis sides as well. That's the real issue is the sides of the body "clamping" to the chassis.

At least the 3 I have here are that way.
