Bump for follow up as requested.

Had a great time racing this on the big Carrera. I left the magnet in and it handled well on the banks and bridge sections.

Not a car all F1 fans will appreciate, but don't ignore it completely. Fun cars side by side.

A bunch of us race Scalextric F1's on Saturdays at Ace Hobby in Niagara Falls USA.
We have a blast on a beautiful 4 lane wood track. Crashes can be costly to the car though.

I would consider picking one of these up as I need a companion car for a Scaley Dallara F1 that I currently have. However, I run without magnets and the F1 challenges me more than any other car regarding weight/weight placement. Did you get a chance to run/tune the car to run without magnets?

Yes, I run non-magnet on my wood track.

I changed to PG tires, and left the magnet there for weight. No other mods and the car handles very well.

I don't have a Scalextric to compare though.
