Scaley Charger v. Carrera Charger- side by side

Postby waaytoomuchintothis » Mon Dec 17, 2012 3:41 pm

After taking these pictures, I decided that they speak eloquently for themselves. You don't need me to point out the differences.
By the way, the Scaley is a dog. Unlike the Truxmore Torino, this thing moves around the track like a slug. I haven't looked into it, so it could be something simple and no big deal. But from the box, the Carrera which isn't nearly as fast as my tuned bone stock Carreras, runs off and leaves the Scaley. Woof.

The Scaley Charger looks more like a street driven tribute car then a real race car. When I get mine I plan on removing the wipers and mirrors, a wheel swap ect, ect. The wheels will look good on a police car. Thanks for the pictures!

Pictures much appreciated Rob, and you are correct. They speek plenty all by themselves. That Carrera is just RACEY looking. I think I`ll just stick with my plan of doing this car myself with the Carrera body Harry sent me.
again thanks for the time you took,
hope you feel better pal.

I know I ripped Scalextric when we first discussed this car. I'm gobsmacked to see that it actually looks worse than I thought it would.

WOOF! Carrera all the way!

Meh, race cars. :? I will say those gold wheels would look awesome on the street model. Strip the advertising and numbers off and the blue-and-gold car would be a pretty nice car.

Well, um, yeah.
What can you say about that. It's ummm different.
I'm no Expert on Classic US Racecars, but I reckon someone in R & D at Scaley needs to be drug tested.
Hubcaps, that can't be right!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This can't be the same group that bought us the Mustangs, Camaros and those sweet little Lotus 49's.
I'd be peeved too,if I was you guys. Thats YOUR motor racing history they're taking the P**s out of there.

OK I've been badmouthing this car since day one and I haven't changed my mind but there is one thing I hadn't noticed: chrome exhaust tips under the rear license plate
Someone said this looked like a street tribute car, if the guy wasn't wearing a helmet I'd agree. I think I almost prefer (shudder) the red, "supercharger" version to this.
They say "if you can't say anything nice.." ok, nice looking paint job.

Rob, thanks for the comparison pics. You are right they say enough without anything being said. Scaley should be embarrassed to even release that car, Carrera did their homework and released race cars. They scaley should not even be released as nothing more than a street car or Dukes car.

I was all set to make a joke about how at least the Scaley car could drive in the rain since he has wipers... and then I noticed that the Carrera version also has them. :? Well, I guess it goes to show that no manufacturer can get a car 100% correct.

Thanks for posting Rob, I think. Im not going to comment to much about the car. The word monstrosity comes to mind. One positive Ill say is the Tampo/decals look really nice.

You guys mentioned the wipers on both cars. Not to mention the gas cap in the wrong location as well as a few other tings that they both share.

I wont get my Scalex Charger until the end of January or early Feb as Ill be away. But my plan is to turn this ugly duckling into a pure-bred Stocker. Im up to the challenge & looking forward to it. Hey Rob!! If you are keen to disect, do you think a front grill & bumper off a Carrera Charger will fit on the front the scalex Charger? Come to think of it I reckon a dremel & some micromesh might sort that front grill out on the Scalex. I think that is what I will do.

#71 Isaac Daytona here we come!!!!!!!!!!! Wake me when the nightmares over!

Yeah Greg, I decided that the thing to do with the grill is just what you said. Some black wash will do wonders for all that gaudy chrome, then the mesh will do fine. The interior is a toss out, there is plenty of room to lower the body and still float, and the Pioneer spares wheels and front tires will as you guys say, "work a treat". For rears, I think Paul has a wider tire that will be just right. The rear panel bothers me, but I'll have to see what I can do with it. The hardest thing to deal with is going to be that roofline, particularly the rear window. That one feature might make this a dirt track bomber all by itself. I have decided to go ahead and strip it, anyway. I just can't get past the wrong car under that particular paint job. He was always a favorite of mine.
