Beautiful write up and photos, thank you. I had one of the Siffert tribute 908LH on pre-order, but decided to go used first for my Porsche collection. With your write up I WILL add this to my collection.
Edit, just an fyi, the 908L name spelling is wrong, the base is correct. Ruhro…
How in the double hockey sticks could they miss THAT! I'll make a 908L decal correction kit.

You might be on to something there, Jeremy. That makes a lot more sense than someone deciding to Americanize the spelling of their name.

@goose - you're on it dude! Schweet. I've never seen the spelling as "Jöst" but, seeing it on a photo of the actual car is reassuring. So, it looks like all I need to do for the decal set fix is the umlau dots... SRC nailed to the ö with the rendition of this 908L (shouldn't it be LH for Langheck?) and I still WANT one badly. Again your review is spot on.
My Porsche book collection.
- Original printing, PORSCHE the and Man and his cars, signed by Dr. F. Porsche himself at the 1973 Porsche Parade.
- R, RS, RSR J. Starkey pink cover original printing, limited edition (Sold to a fellow early911Sregistry scale police nut)
- Porsche 959, Jurgen L. German, English translated. Picked up at the museum.
- Original Porsche 911, Peter Morgan
Various others...

Excellent review, Jesse, and this one is already on my hit list at the local hobby shop.
The Jost/Joest controversy is a German thing. In German, O-umlaut sounds like a combination of O and E. If there is no O-umlaut font available, O-umlaut is spelled oe. Jost (with an umlaut over the O) is properly spelled Joest.
If an O-umlaut is unavailable, it would be a good idea in the tampo printing to spell it 'Jost' -- sticklers can then put two dots over the O with black paint, and the car is perfect. It is impossible to make it look correct if it's spelled Joest on the car. On the base, Joest is an acceptable spelling, and if it was spelled 'Jost', it would simply be wrong and imposible to fix.
So as weird as it looks, it makes the most sense to do it that way. The Spanish aren't particularly known for doing things methodically, though, so it's just as likely that they stumbled onto the correct solution. :) It would be very interesting to hear from Rafael how this all came about. :)
One more comment about the car. SRC continues to do some excellent work with some subjects that nobody has touched yet. They keep moving up my 'favorite manufacturers' list, and they're pretty close to the top.

Great review!! I recently purchased an SRC 907L and a 907K and I really like these cars. Sort of like Fly reborn! Keep 'em coming SRC!

Warms my heart to see Fly on the mend.
Great job on the review, Napper-of-the-Goose.
