Wahoo! Thank you Carrrera for including that alternate guide flag. That's a huge help and a plus in the customer experience department.

Nice car and review, and great idea with adding a optional guide.

Great review Harry: I much appreciate the recognition that you give a brand that is not one of the crowd favourites and is often overlooked compared to some of the more "fashionable" brands. I actually started a thread on another forum in which I praised Carrera for providing excellent cars at unrivalled prices. I have in recent months bought a Cheetah, an Audi A5 DTM and a BMW M3 DTM. I find their cars an absolute delight: they look great and run amazingly well with really very little preparation. By no means NSR slayers but extremely well finished models that are smooth, quiet and handle surprisingly well.
I am glad to see that the Ferrari is the same.
Thanks and well done to both Harry and Carrera!

Thanks for the feedback.
Well Jeremy, it is something we just don't think about. If I had not seen the new flyer in the back, I likely would never have either :)

Sharp car !!!
I have 1 Carrera and a dozen Scaleys.
The guide pin on my Carrera is to long and to thick to run on my wood track !
I shortened the pin but now the width is a problem.
Will I need to sand guide pin to make it thinner? I'd like to buy more Carrera's but I don't want to have to do this to every car.

I ran into some of the same troubles. Here's some facts I have learned:
First of all, Carreras can't run on Scalextric Classic track, but they do fine on Scalextric Sport, with certain exceptions.
The longest "keel" guides from Carrera will hang up in the tightest curves of most plastic track. Some folks cut a little off the front and back of a Carrera guide to help it get around the tightest curves.
The slot in a wood track can swell with moisture, making it narrower. If a router bit smaller than 1/8 was used to make the track, this can be critical. Just wrap some 100 grit sandpaper around a plastic spreader and put it in the slot. Then shove the sandpaper around the track until it goes around smoothly. Blow out the dust and try your car that had the most trouble. Chances are that alone will fix it.
When I have been at someone's track that is Scaley Classic, rather than miss out on a race, I have ground off just a little bit of the bottom of the guide on my Carreras, just sand it off full length of the guide until it no longer snags.
Of course, you can always simply replace the guide with an aftermarket guide and be done, once you solve the narrow slot problem on a wood track that has swelled.

I got distracted in that last post and forgot what I wanted to say.
I want to underline that price point for this car. This is what will keep the hobby healthy. I buy Carrera cars I barely want (and repaint them), rather than do business with people who are driving prices up.

Harry,
Hey, it's red and its a Ferrari. What else do you need for a reason to buy the car.
It is almost as good looking as the Ferrari 330 P4 and that's saying something.
