Although I spend the majority of my current slot car time building/racing 1/32 "modern" cars, I grew up when the 1/24 cars were the cars of choice (commercial tracks) and they are my first love. I have been lucky enough to acquire/build some of the cars I had back then, and I am posting a few. I have only included a single pic. of each (time/space), so , if there is anything you would like more info/pics. of, please let me know.

I hope some of you "experienced" slotters will appreciate them.

First up, A Monogram Scarab, painted as AJ's 64 Mosport car.



A Russkit "Carrera" McLaren....... one of the best ever RTR cars produced.



An Atlas Cooper



A Cox Dino....never the front runner, but, one of my alltime favs.



A Cox "Cuc" a kazillion of these sold...painted, as I couldn't stomach translucent orange.



A Russkit Cooper...original with its hideous "spyder" chassis



A clear Lola T160 on a Champion rail chassis, and rewound 26D.....runs better than it ever did



Another clear body....A Lola MKV1, on a scratch built Dynamic/brass chassis.....a great running car.



And lastly, Mr. Hill's Cox BRM

Those are some beautiful cars you have. I remember some of them from way back. I miss some of that old 1/24 scale action sometimes.

beautiful work on those cars! How did you get the paint to stick on the "tubberware" cuc?
I also race mostly current 1:32 scale cars but have a collection of 1:24 vintage racers that see action on my routed track. They typically do not look out of place on a 1:32 track even with just 3.5 in lane spacing, particularly the open wheel cars.

Wow, those are stunning.. I love the sports cars, but that Cooper is killer~

I remember the adults and a few teenagers had those. They were way out of my league at 13 with a paper route. But I lusted for them.

Chris, As always, you have some very beautiful builds there Sir.

I think that Cuc bodies were polypropylene, if I wanted to paint one I would first go over it with steel wool, then paint with Krylon Fusion. After that I would keep my fingers crossed!

Lovely cars - I really like the 1/24 open wheelers - I think that is a better scale (at least from an appearance stand point) for classic GP cars :)
