Strombecker 1/32 Chaparral 2D on Monogram brass chassis

Strombecker made an excellent Chaparral 2D back in the sixties and EJ's makes some nice decals for these. I mounted one on an original Monogram brass chassis by utilizing the body mounts from one of the re-issued Monogram Chaparral 2 cars, these had to be cut-off of the interior tray. I used a black piece of poster board for the interior and mounted the Monogram driver. The driver was a tight fit and I had to trim the top of the drivers head, I even had to glue him to the roof of the body. I thought it came out rather well and it seems to sit just right... well maybe it could be lower in the back (or use taller tires).

Nice work! Looks great! We need one of the manufactures to do a new tooling of the Chaparral 2D.

Actually if the power supply hadn't been so wacky at Bourdeaux in 2002 you would have finished better and probably would have won.
