I feel that a Pontiac Gran Prix would be a nice car , I personally would like to see a '69 to '73 .

It doesn't mean a lot to this discussion, but today, coming home from working in a vintage Jaguar garage, I saw a perfect 1960 Pontiac Bonneville Coupe cruising by.

My family had a brand new silver 1959 Pontiac Catalina. I was in the third grade. It was the first time I went over 100mph.

Wow - first time I went over 100 mph was 5 years ago in a new Mustang on the interstate in Montana.

You beat me by a few years.

I know that this might be a little late in this forum , but I plan on having a Scaletrix set up that will be wireless , the set up will only handle 6 cars at one time . Since I can only have 6 cars racing at once I only have that many chips . My friends can pick any car that will be able to take the chip , put it into the car , there will be a controller with each chip , pair them up and off you go .

I don't think it matters Fathead, we all share what's on our mind regarding racing and stuff across posts. If your racers will be restrained enough to not destroy nice cars made from models like the Cyclone by Proxie, what would be better than having 6 vintage NASCAR type cars racing together? Cyclones, Chargers, Torinos, maybe a Superbird, and whatever Ken comes up with next.

When I get my 2 Cyclones done they will enable David Pearson and James Hylton to go at it again with Benny Parsons (Torino), Andy Hampton (Charger), Wendell Scott (Fairlane), and other legends as more vintage bodies from the '70's become available.

While we're off topic regarding the GTX Ken is working on allow me say - I NEED THIS CAR! Bud Moore's Torino driven by Bobby Issacs. Can this be added to our wish list? Please?

Lol , I know what you are talking about . I already have a bunch of cars that will only be ran by me . I have 6 resin body cars that were made by RMS Resins , and with Dave not making them anymore those will be only making parade laps by me . Not going to be making them shelf queens , but I will be the only one running them .

And I do have those cars also , safe to say I went a little bit over board on the bay . But what the hell , you only live once , I figure that when it is my time everything I am accumulating will go to my kids and grandkids . Hopefully they will enjoy them also .

Ken - I'm amazed by your desire and ability to create multiple versions of the same car. The '72 version of the #15 Torino is my overwhelming choice because it has such an aggressive looking grille area. If either or both of these are likely to be available in the near future, and will fit on the Pioneer Charger (or Carrera Torino) chassis, I'll be buying multiple kits again.

Your being able to offer the Cyclone as a kit with Pioneer chassis was a blessing. Being able to source both at the same time made getting started on the build easier with less hassles. I love looking forward to doing one or two steps a day and seeing it come together slowly so I can reduce the possibility of mistakes on my part. It's been decades since I built any models and if I rush I know I'll botch something.

For the Cyclone I built a rear body mount out of balsa wood and hobby foam, and filed the front body mount you provided down to get the fit and stance I wanted. My point is, as long as the Torino wheelbase matches either the Pioneer Charger or Carrera Torino chassis I'll be able to make it work out.

Keep up the great work. Looks like I'll be helping you out with those school taxes for years to come.

Here are some pics of the parts with a higher resolution print. This kit is simpler because of the single grill option.
Image

The windshield pillar did not print because it was too small I guess.

Notice the blue paint. There is a color called Oasis Blue from the Rustoleum Painter's Touch line that is pretty close to the Petty color. It only comes in satin so will have to be shined up with clear, which is normal over decals anyhow.

The hoods are pictured here. A lot of this was done free hand and loosely based on photos. Looks OK, but I am not expert.

Image

Some photos show a pedestal spoiler on the trunk, but not sure if that is factory or just an add on. Not sure to include one of them on the mold. I like them so if it will fit will put it one the sprue.

Next step is to pick a spot to part the mold. The Cyclone had a defined edge to the fender that was easy to follow. The lead line part was made on the line where a vinyl top would go. This is a lot smoother so trying to get this to meet is going to be a challenge.

The next step will be to start cutting the mold. I will post pics as that progresses.

IIRC pedestal spoiler was a factory option.
