Even though I found the right chassis, I think I might just drop the money and buy a couple of the RTR chassis, either from Pioneer or find a place here in the states that carries them

I was able to get two of the pioneer chassis from BRS , now I have to buy the bodies as soon as the are ready , I will also be looking for the RTR also. Never know when you will be able to get this stuff again

And finally the driver is in the car ready to race.

It also is much easier to mask the Pearson car than the earlier version. I simply ran tape straight back the side of the car and left it stick up in the air over the trunk lid. If anyone want so build the 21 racer I would suggest this version unless you are more skilled than me at masking.

Every mold is going to be ran through the EDM once again to help with flash. I am not expecting a car with no flash, but want to reduce it as best as possible.

The grill and front bumper assembly is being re-designed and will be a holdup till that gets done. Someone early in this thread mentioned the "war canoe" grill and they knew what they were talking about.

When that finally gets done, run a small pile of cars and hope they find their way in to victory lane with the same frequency as the real one did. It is going to be fun for me to race this thing finally. Even if it runs dead last every race it is still going to be my go-to car for vintage stock car racing for at least a little while. :D

Top notch work there. Both liveries look good but that Purolator car really works for me.

That 21 car is breathtaking.

I'll build one 21, and one Competition Green Metallic one like my '71 street cat.

I do hope that I am not jumping the gun, I just want to know when bodies will be for sale, and if I am jumping the gun , just go telling me to sit in the corner and be quiet . And if I am not jumping the gun will you be making the dodge also ? Because if you are I can't wait until that one is made and buy both of them.

And I really meant that I can wait until they are both made and will buy both at the same time

Things are mostly done except the front bumper/grill, which is being remade to be a better fit. Not sure when it will get done, but hoping for very early next year, January or so.

There are a couple cars that I want to play around and make if time allows. The 72 Road Runner being one of them, a couple of Torinos, and maybe a early Firebird. Now that the die is finished and the set up is getting tweaked it should be a little faster. The interior is going to be re-used for all of them.

Optimistic schedule, if free time stays about the same as now is Cyclone early next year, and maybe 2 more cars finished by years end.

I have street and 21 decal sheets designed and will make a couple more for options. 92 and 48 hopefully. Plan is to price the kit around $18-20, which includes decals and parts to make either street or race car. If you buy a chassis you are looking at a car on the track for $50 or so, which is not too bad for a non-mass produced car.

I will keep updating this thread and when the kit is ready will make about 100. That should be plenty to go around and I can always make more if needed. Right now my phone is dead so I can not take pictures and post them. It got snow on it and has been giving problems ever since. Getting a new one today and will be able to take some new pics.

Thanks for all the comments, the whole project got started by me wishing the big companies would make more old American cars and it has been fun learning how to do it yourself. The results are not perfect but could have been worse. Overall I am happy with them. :D

I know that might be days , if not weeks late , but as long as you are happy with your results , that really is all that matters . And to bring a couple of car bodies that are not around at all , and will be one of a kind you are doing the slot car community a service. So , my hat is off for you , and you never know , maybe this will get back to the other slot car makers to maybe go off the grid so to speak and maybe make a few different types of cars in the near future , I guess I better step off my soap box before I fall .

Ok, had a problem with the 3D printer. The board or something else went wrong, so I got another and my friend installed it. it promptly blew out smoke and stopped working. So order another, repeat, and finally learned the cooling fan was frying the boards.

it is working and I printed out a sample of the new grill and parts that need replaced. The interiors are in a box in the shop. And the graphic design skills are finally improving. I got 4 designs done and might do the Earl Powell car at some point.

These decals are laser printed on paper from ebay. The street cars are on clear and the race decals are on white paper. Not the best method, but affordable for me and I can put a sheet in with each car. The black 922 car is an easy match, as is most of the white on the 21 car. The 48 car I painted with strawberry red rustoleum from Walmart and it matches pretty well. They make a rattle can with primer that works on plastic.

So after the technical issues the new year begins with one final part to mold.

Crossing my fingers and hoping things hold together and this finally gets done.

One problem is that now that I am running Cyclones around the track it sort of feels like I am done. But I want to make the grill better and share it with others.

I should mention that Sven's World of Wheels and Mike's decals were both very generous in granting me permission to rescale some of there work. It was a huge help. Still took some work on the decals but really saved a ton of work and the result is way better than what I could have done from scratch.

Loving the look of the 21 car. Did you make the body to fit directly onto the Carrera chassis or onto the Pioneer one? Or could either chassis be adapted to fit?

Looks like you also made a fine job of the decals.
