Lotus Europa build 2

Had good success, modeling and performance-wise, on my first build so I'm hopping on a wider version. My other small cars, Bugeye Sprite and Mini, are more driveable with a wider track, so I'm expecting an improvement with this version over my stock one which is already my best small car.

Just applied the basic extended wheel arches.

Thank you to the manufacturers for fast curing two-part epoxy.

Filing, sanding and more filling to go.

Looks good Dan, I have to get building again now that I am home.
I missed saying goodbye and I still owe you $5. I will pay you with interest when you get back, eh?

Hi Keith,

Good to see you back in the fray. That was quite a break for you and I know it wasn't a vacation. See you in a few months.

Just getting back into building my own cars now.

Got the dremel out with the cone sanding tip and went to work shaping and hollowing out the extended wheel arches. Keeping that square opening look which looks right for the Europa.

Test fitted it with the adjustable wheelbase chassis from my latest Bugeye.

Think I'll try to drop the body at the front down a bit to match build 1.

This is turning out well.

Flattened out the top of the rear wheel arches to maintain the body line. Had to reinforce the body on the inside as I got too aggressive with the Dremel.

Like this so much that I'm going to make a mold for casting.

With all these little cars with extreme outlaw flares, we need a proxy for small cars with a totally open class, eh?

Nice shape on those extended guards Dan.

Have you seen the Europa with the two snorkels coming up from the rear deck?

Hi John,

Yeah, I'm familiar with the double intake snorkel car. An add on to consider.

Got going on the chassis, building an adjustable wheelbase one with the no longer available BWA front and rear brackets.

Need some .064 x 1/2" brass for side pans.

Got the chassis rolling. Pirated some parts (Scalextric FF050 20 motor with 9t BWA pinion, SCX Pro 27t crown, Slot It guide and wire) from another small car build and added Ranch Design rims and Paul Gage front and Luf rear urethanes.

Runs well but we'll see how it does once the body's mounted.
