With all the inspiration and supportive info from HRW, I was able to build my first chassis. I am building it for my RMS '68 Javelin and the Trans-AM proxy!
I appreciate any suggestions and or comments, I know it is not the prettiest however a great learning experience.
I would like to thank Retro44, dreinecke, vtecfour and shotgundave for the informative posts and advise as I commented on their posts.
This is only one of the reasons I continue to be an active supporter of this wonderful site. Thanks to Harry also for his supportive comments as I learn this really awesome part of the hobby.

The beginning was easy, IMHO.

This guys was a bit of a buggar, but think it will work.

It did not work, as you can see. I needed to added another support for the front axle to obtain a proper ride height.
Once I went back and look at VTECFOUR's post on his NASCAR build to confirm I goofed. :text-thankyouyellow:
My guess is I was too excited to solder and missed the extra supports.

The wonderful AMC Javelin from RMS that will eventually be part of this build.
I will post more as I continue of course. I will be leaving Thursday for my seven day honeymoon cruise in the Caribbean with my awesome wife!

Wondering if I will have Wi-Fi access to follow a few posts while at sea. :laughing-rolling:
Not to worry, I will not be spending a lot of time on the web, rather enjoying our trip. :banana-dance:

Good leap into the pool.

Will become easier (and sometimes frustrating) as you do more.

Wait till you see how it runs!

Z-Carfan,

Hey, if it's flat, square and true, then 8t should work well.

I like your use of wire inside the main rails.

On the suggestion request, why not use another piece of wire, bent in an inverted "U". Then if you bend the end of the "U" up 90 degrees, your front axle will be secured. Just my opinion.

Keep up the great work

We got married on Dec 26th FYI. We waited to do the honeymoon till now. Thanks.

Interesting idea Florida, I had not thought of that. I have not bent a lot of metal yet, so not sure how that would be done.
It seems flat based on the base I used, but more will tell once I get wheels and guide set.

Congrats on the marriage and the honeymoon. Watch out for the topless beaches though, :scared-eek: turns out my wife liked em. I felt like and idiot standing guard...

Welcome to the honeycomb club, Z. :text-welcomewave:

That chassis looks great. Brass chassis building is addictive. I would build a chassis a day if it didn't mean having to buy all the bits and pieces, and having to paint and finish all the bodies.

Looking forward to seeing this one finished and having my cars race against it.

Cheers,

Keith

This is where you find that brass chassis building and marriage have something in common.
It is always a scary start. :laughing-rolling:
Congrats sir on your first chassis build and your entry into the world of married bliss.

Thanks all, I think I used too much solder. Possibly just my haste, fortunately seems to have turned out good. Looking forward to finishing her up I. The next few weeks. (The chassis).

Thanks also for the sentiments on the wedding and trip, we are excited to get started on this part of our life together.
