Finally gave it a shot. Actually turned out pretty square. Thanks to everyone here for the posts and examples! If not for the how to advice on HRW, I know I would have never attempted this. Can't wait to get the motor and gears in.

Congratulations Swampdog12345! You have now completed the very hardest chassis ever, THE FIRST ONE!
Let's be honest, you built your first chassis without any knowledge that you could ever be successful. Now you have that knowledge. The next one will be easier as you now have one in the positive results column. After building many of them, I find the process very simple. I have successfully solved the problems tha I have encountered along the way. You are both learning and building at the same time. Great feat - at least in my book.
Just remember to take a step outside of your comfort zone and trying some new technique is just going to help you build your skills and increase your talent levels.
So, what's next?

I find it hard to believe you did that John because I don't see any burnt fingers in that picture.
Way to go and as Marty said "the next one will be easier". :text-bravo:
Scratch building and fine tuning slot cars is a hobby of thousands of an inch and thousands of a second.

Actually, I burned myself twice, Pappy. It's just on the other hand.
