Green cast resin body that I want white

I am about to start a project with a resin slot car body that was cast in green. I would like to make the base coat white if possible. I remember back in my teenage years working with plastic scale models this was not possible with any kind of quality finish. I could make it a darker color with a gray primer as a second choice . But maybe things have changed and someone found a new trick ?
