I think there's one in the pipeline for you Harry.
Speaking on almafan, he showed a rare side on Sunday during the post race awards presentation when he graciously and humbly accepted our thanks for initiating and raising money for the treatment of cancer. Last year, at the Michigan 24, without our knowledge, he gathered together items from his personal collection to raffle to raise money for a member of the Quebec team diagnosed with cancer. When the others learned of his humble efforts we also donated items for the raffle. Rob raised close to $500 to help with medical expenses and, as irony would have it, one of the raffled items was the car Quebec used to win the Area 51 24 Hour Enduro. Not only did Rob help another person, from another country speaking another language; he also provided them with a car with which they won the race. That's really TWO victories for Rob. In the modest few words Rob used to accept our thanks he reminded us that slot car racing isn't about winning or losing but the friendships and bonds we develop through challenges of organizing, running and participating in an endurance race.
As Steve S commented during the foggy hours of the 2nd morning: "He's a National Treasure".
