To ensure this post meets all applicable HRW rules, I will state that I made chicken thighs that were massaged with my own rub, drizzled with butter and a healthy dose of brown sugar, slow rolled for two hours in foil packets that were then opened for the last half hour to have Baby Ray's BBQ sauce brushed on. The chicken was met with rave reviews and I'm slightly mad that there are NO leftovers for my lunch tomorrow. I'm no Harry Wise, but I guess I did all right. Sorry, no pics of the food as they ate it all - I realize that does break a few rules...
My dad's younger brother, Bob, and his wife Sondra were here and the boys had an original Aurora vibe set way back when. Bob can't remember the last time he touched a slot car, but after holding a driver's meeting and letting him practice, we set up a full race with three heats in each lane for 6 minutes with fuel stops. We had a BLAST! In honor of Lemans, these were the cars we ran all night: the Carrera LMPs that Mr. Paul Gage supplied the tires for and the Slot.it Audi Mr. HRW himself sent for my dad:

Bob after he probably just smack-talked dad:

Dad on the other end getting after it:

Bob having to concentrate:

Dad getting ready to start the next heat:

My seven year old nephew running the race computer - he also did a spectacular job calling the play-by-play of the race:

In the end, dad took it by a lap in the R18. I finished a strong second in the Bentley. Bob was only another lap behind which was great for his first time in the track!
My nephew got into the next race and drove extremely well:

My BIL running hard:

My Aunt Sondra raced for the first time and BEAT THE BOYS with some smooth and steady driving on her very first time ever playing with a slot car!

I even got my sister on the track:

My nephew turned 7 on Friday and dad gave him all of his Carrera track. I gave him the Ninco 1 cars I had as well as a few others.
What a great weekend it has been!!!
