When I was an American boy trying to understand the transition from the bayous to Canada after we moved there, we went to the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition), and one of the things we saw was a record size moose, taxidermically mounted whole on the landing of the stairs in the big CNE building. Unless you've seen one, you can't believe how huge those things are. The first photo in this thread gets you a hint, in that the moose is not a particularly big one, and his rack is not complete. But he will live long enough to rival the weight of most folks cars. The one at the CNE was over a ton, but it was taken before accurate records were recorded. The official record is over 1800 pounds. There was a photo in the London Free Press newspaper in 1964 or so, with an International Harvester pickup truck completely destroyed, with the engine well past the firewall, the entire front of the truck wiped out and compressed, and the caption was, "Moose one, truck zero". They never found the wounded moose because he got up and walked off.
