"Beer is the proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."Â
-Ben Franklin
I always thought that Ben was remarkably accurate with that statement. And God knows I love my beer. Well, the oddest thing happened, and the Drs still have no answer. I didn't buy beer on a grocery trip back in August, thinking I still had plenty at home. I cut way back on beer some time ago.  I never got used to the new routine, and have bought on the wrong trip or forgotten to buy on time more than once since cutting back. But in the past I didn't actually run out for more than a day or so. This time, I was too busy to go back to the store, and after two days, I was getting dressed in the morning and discovered my feet were no longer swollen. My feet have been swollen rather badly for many years, ever since the congestive heart failure started. At one point, they looked like footballs, but since then, they just looked puffy and awful- much smaller. But after two days without beer and no other changes at all, I could see the tendons and veins in my feet just like a normal foot. Strange. So I decided to see how it progressed. It has been several months now, and other than having a good deal more money to spend on groceries, there has been no change. I am just not swollen. And it may be ongoing. My socks don't bind at the tops. My pants fit better. My shirts fit better. I am not substantially lighter, but I am smaller. Â
I told a few friends about this after 3 months or so, and now, approaching 6 months, I think it has to be real, so I'm telling my HRW friends the good news (now that I think it really is good news). Besides, I looked and couldn't find any posts I have done that addressed this, so its overdue.
